Awethentic Studio created both Web AR and Native AR experiences for the Christie’s Hong Kong Spring Auctions 2019 from 24-29 May. There were a total of 12 artworks that triggered an art specialist speaking about the particular artwork. Using Web-based AR, visitors could scan the QR code on the flyers and scan the marker to see the specialists avatar appear! At the exhibition, users could experience native AR through a dedicated App using the iPads available on-site. Visitors could point the iPad to the artwork to see specialist appear. WebAR provides access to web-based augmented reality via the web browser using a combination of technologies and is becoming increasingly popular among many brands as a non-app based solution.
